This text can essentially be divided into 3 parts, at around 50 pages each. The first section includes introductory comments, philosophy, basics, and so on. "In insight meditation we only need to know the objects touching the mind, in the present moment, as they arise-and-vanish." The second segment consists of both general questions and answers and two students Q&A during a retreat. The last part is an outline description of the 16 step model of the progress of insight with commentary.
While the title states "practical steps" this is not a step-by-step practice book and not a text for beginners. This book is more for those that are already practicing vipassana mediation in the style of the late and prolific Mahasi Sayadaw.
